JAGADGURU SHANKARDEVA (1449-1568 A.D)composed n created one classical dance which is known as SATRIYAA Nritya or SHANKARDEVA Nritya or SHANKAREE Nritya.The Satryaa or SHANKARDEVA Nritya is the first classical dance in the world.Because other Indian national classical dances like Kanari ,Kathak, Odissi,Manipuri dances were composed by different saints from sixteen century onwards. But as SHANKARDEVA composed classical dance in fifteen century, it is clear that SHANKARDEVA nritya or Satriyaa nritya is the first classical performing dance in the world. It is to be noted that Bharat Natyam came as performing art only after SHANKARDEVA. Bharat muni composed Bhaarat Natyam two thousand years ago. But it came into existence as performing art only in 18 to 19 century.
SHANKARDEVA composed many classical songs & ragas in brajabuli language which is known as SHANKARDEVA sangeet or Shankaree sangeet .
